Specialy color control is very good in sp. Silkypix has also a camera colorstyle which reads the metadata of the rawfile and use that to mimic ooc jpeg settings. Hightlight tool look very difficult but the manual is very helpfull to see what you have to do.īlacklevel is a great way to " dehaze without sharpening" and sp9 has also dehaze tool. So i mostly used burn or dodge and dodgenburn in combination with exposure correction. Wile dodge and burn is softer en with a minor contrast adjustment quit wel to get a wanted result. I used it to lower highlight and raising shadow.HDR is give you that artificial look and strong contrast. I stopped using silkypix around 7pro but on 9 the basics are the same.ĭodge en burn is more subtle then HDR. The more you use it, the easier it is to reject those evil subscriber based programs and be eclecticly cheapskatish! No more auto pay to Adobe! Shadows and Blacks are submenus of the Tone menu.or something like that. The specific sliders for what you need are under the Exposure sub menu IIRC (I dont have it in front of me). If you have a G9, pay the $37 USD for SP9 Pro for Panny. I enjoyed walking/trekking in jungles and birding instead of waiting for birds in hides or near feeders.Īny thoughts, advises or comments are most appreciated. Initially, I thought I may just go JPEG in camera but burnt out and blacken picture happen very often with the ever changing environment. I learned editing by myself and am wondering if I missed finding such features in Silkypix. But with Silkypix, I do not find such features. LR's Highlight, Shadow, White and Black functions serve me very well to reduce the back lighting and brighten the bird up. I have downloaded both Silkypix Developer Studio 8 SE and Silkypix Developer Studio 4.4 SE.Īs my main interest is birds, at least 70% of my Raw files will have strong back lighting. As my photography interest are only for hobby and now retired, I am reluctant to upgrade to the latest LR. But with the newer G9, LR 5.7 does not support RW2 files. My old Canon Raw files I use LR 5.7 for processing. Just jumped from Canon 2 months ago to G9.
